These are my thoughts on the whole series. Some of the missions are ehh, and I remember being confused on the snowy level, but all in all you should have a lot of fun offline and online. You also get a lightsaber and force powers upon starting the game. I’ve not finished the single player campaign but it’s really fun and added dual sabers and staff sabers in a game series where the lightsaber has the best lightsaber mechanics of any Star Wars game. I r8 it 8/8.Īcademy is great too but it’s best played online. I don’t remember a lot of the game but I do remember it’s super great. The first few levels are just awful, but if you get past them, as soon as you get the lightsaber the game picks up and it’s super great and fun to go through.
Also it branches the story depending on if you’re light or dark. I’ve never beaten it but it’s one of my favorites. The games newer than DF2 feel very streamlined comparatively and DF2 feels like a 90s&MSDOS feel while still being 3D and awesome. There are some really cool powers you can get that I would like to see come back in future games. And the force powers are all super unique and not simplified like in Outcast and Academy. You can even jump out the side of the tower to fall a skyscraper’s distance to your death. There’s this one level that’s basically a large tower and the entire level is done in the sky and you move through the level vertically. The cool thing about DF2 is that the level design is super neato. You can also get an HD texture pack that makes it almost as pretty as Jedi Outcast graphically, although I’ve never tried this mod. I got maybe 3 levels in and couldn’t play it anymore.ĭark Forces 2 is just wonderful. Also I think DF1 doesn’t have any Jedi aspects like force or lightsaber so it’s literally all shooting and collecting keys and stuff. It felt like everything bad from the first few levels of Outcast but mixed with the Doom formula to try and cancel out the bad.
I tried to play Dark Forces 1 on PS3 it was really hard to play.
